Bucket List No. 85 : CORON, PALAWAN

The world-renowned KAYANGAN LAKE

At long last, I now got myself true ‘property’ of photos of that popular bewitching view when you google Coron and view the image results.  Photo above is of Kayangan Lake, famous destination when you visit Coron, Palawan, Philippines.

When it says “Take nothing but pictures, Keep nothing but memories, Leave nothing but footprints” – then I’ve done all those to the three Palawan spots: Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Coron! Yay! So the bribery to myself works! Work hard and  I could then look forward for the reward sometime later 🙂  Reward = Getaway 😀

2013-10-31 10.46.29Very popular Kayangan Lake (down from the cliff you need to trek)

2013-10-31 10.46.34This brackish water’s just so refreshing! I dipped in (of course with my vest on)

And you know, one of the great things about travelling is meeting people from different walks of life, with different characters, with different magnificent stories! I’m always astonished when I get great ideas from ones you meet random and though I was always tad apprehensive in chucking up people’s peaceful holidays a bit by interrupting them, that didn’t show when I invaded them by asking questions 🙂 Just so lucky the ones I meet are superbly nice and happy to share especially travels to Europe and everywhere. Oh I am always amazed how the world is full of wonderful, kind hearts!

2013-10-31 09.14.30We were literally squeezing that time, but fun people so that’s fine

2013-10-31 10.11.39Limestone cliffs and waters is so inviting.

Though may not be as huge and beautiful as Phi Phi Islands of Thailand or Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. So some may find it hard whether to go and see Phi Phi and Ha Long Bay still after this.

Though of course, I still want to see Phi Phi Islands and Ha Long Bay. But now, as they just almost look like this, I push them down to the later part of the list, paving way to places more unique compared to the Philippines… so I now have a qualified reason why Macau is one of the next priority  destinations.

2013-10-30 14.35.01The humble little Coron town, everything’s just a walk away…well except way to the airport

Breathtaking views, good for some lone time, reminiscing moments before ‘back to reality’ on a Manic Monday awaiting!

2013-10-30 14.37.40Coron’s Lualhati Park. With a bit of baywalk, gorgeous place!

A caffè latte to cap the day off – perfect! – At Dad’s Coronzy coffeeshop

2013-11-01 08.31.47My breakfast view at Coron Paradise Bed and Breakfast, that’s the bay you could see from here

You could have guessed that it will be almost impossible if food part is missing in my blog.Yes, this is now that part!

2013-10-30 19.49.22I am on a no-carb diet, yeah right!

2013-10-30 19.42.17Glad there’s this guy who had saved me from the evil Banana Crepe in Orange flambé. He became the sacrificial lamb, poor him.

2013-10-30 19.41.45Well, hello! There’s that half-headed crab with one eye sticking out 😀 – Dave’s  Seafood Tom Yum… “when in Rome, do as the Romans do” not the crab sticking its eye out, but Dave using spoon instead of knife in the Philippines hehe .

2013-10-30 19.49.29Great food at Bistro Coron, yes recommended!

2013-10-31 20.15.32Coron Village Lodge’s version of mixed vegetables. Thumbs up!

So when I have helplessly allowed myself for pesky carbo stuffs to defeat my obedient palate the 1st night, I’d have to pay-off, so only had veges that night at Coron Village Lodge while everyone else indulged and finished off market’s supply of sugar for trick-or-treats on Halloween night huhu! Coron Village Lodge appears on most recommendations, from TripAdvisor to blogs (perhaps travel books as well?). Absolutely recommended place!

Apple-banana-mango smoothie at SeaDive Resort before my departure. Bay View + smoothie = serendipity

2013-10-30 15.13.33Yep, Log out, shut down, go to Palawan!  It would be nice if everyone could discover the beauty of travel!

2013-10-31 10.29.37With Robin from Germany in the tour group in Kayangan Lake. Thanks Robin for tips on travels to Europe and perhaps teaching English in China (why not!) [but no cheese in some villages there? nooo!]… Enjoy Hungary and Miami next (I’m envious!)

2013-10-31 13.43.04I’M THE KING OF THE WOOOORRRLD!!!

2013-10-31 10.10.12and my tour group, lovely people!

2013-10-31 10.34.54Never  mind if I’m already invisible burnt from the sun, the background is the highlight there!

So my beautiful friends, as I wiggle my way down to the list, I engross to many things at same time. Can I just add that this enchanting-Coron-trip is, by far, my most peaceful and fulfilling trip.

Thanks a million and join me again next time, around 4th week of November for my next destination within the Philippines!  Meanwhile, back to work on Monday.

Hope you’re all well and happy!

Still enchanted with Coron,

Fritzie xx

  1. Coron is one of the most enchanting places in the Philippines 😀 Good to know that Kayangan lake didn’t change much 🙂
